Fundraising Update 02.11.16: 

Hi supporters.  Due to the incredible support received I have once again raised my fundraising target.  I am now looking to raise over $11,094 and make this my BIGGEST ever fundraiser.  Thanks again for your support x

Kate Runs NYC

On the first Sunday in November 2016 I will be freaking out at the starting line of the premier event for road runners - the New York Marathon.  As a non-runner this is going to be daunting.  I'll be strapping on the sneakers and pounding the pavement for a casual 42.2kms around the fabulous streets of the Big Apple.  

I'm taking on my 5th Adventure Challenge to raise money for my charity of choice Cure Cancer. 

This will be an extra-special milestone as it coincides with celebrating 6 years of being cancer free.  Hopefully this means there will be an added incentive of champagne at the finish line. 

The past five years have seen me tackle 9 days roughing it in the Papua New Guinea Jungle to complete the gruelling Kokoda Trail (Nov 12), reach over 4,000m on the Salcantay Trek to Machu Picchu (Jun 13) and despite being a non-runner complete the Sydney Half Marathon in 2hrs16 (Sep 14) before scaling the great heights of the highest freestanding mountain in the world - Mt Kilimanjaro at 5,895m (Oct 15).  These four challenges have seen me personally raise over $33,500 to assist Cure Cancer in stamping out cancer, (and combined group fundraising has exceeded $620k). 

Less than 1% of the population are official marathoners.  I wonder what the % of people is that have tackled all of the above too?!

This time I am looking to raise $6,481 and take my new fundraising total to $40,000. It's an honour to be able to raise funds for such an incredible charity that has the single focus to find a cure for cancer - no less.
